Manchester Airport Information

As a major hub for northern England, Manchester International Airport serves over 20 million passengers a year. Each of its three terminals provides both domestic and international flights to major Europeans cities as well as to destinations in North America, Asia and Africa.   The airport’s three terminals are connected by the Skylink moving walkway, which makes transport easy and convenient. Each terminal services domestic and international destinations. Nearly all commercial airliners service Manchester International Airport, including budget carriers such as Ryanair and global carriers including Cathay Pacific.

Comprehensive passenger amenities can be found at all terminals. ATMs and currency exchange facilities are located next to the check-in desks at Terminal 1 as well as a Travelex counter and a post office. Other services include a hairdresser’s, drycleaners and a medical centre. P assengers can eat at Burger King, O’Brien’s Irish Sandwich Bar and Starbucks, or alternatively enjoy a drink at the Blues Bar or the West Pier Bar.

Duty-free shopping is available in the Departures lounges. Several well-known UK shops such as Boots, Sunglass Hut, Monsoon, Allsports and WH Smith offer excellent prices. Car hire is readily available from six major rental companies including Avis, Budget and Hertz. Disabled passengers will find the airport fully equipped to meet their needs, with TDD payphones, accessible toilets and specially trained staff available for assistance.   Business travellers can utilise the airport’s 400-person capacity conference centre, which includes basic internet, telephone and fax services. Nearby airport hotels such as the Radisson, the Atlantic and Crowne Plaza also have dedicated business service centres.

Transport and parking at Manchester International Airport

Manchester International Airport can be reached in less than 20 minutes via rail services from Manchester Piccadilly Station. This train station also connects passengers with over 100 cities around the country. Three main bus companies operate services to and from the airport to the city centre, with a journey time of about an hour, depending on traffic. National Express connects the airport directly with many UK cities, while metered taxi services are also available from outside each of the terminals.   With over 14,000 parking spaces at the airport, passengers should have no trouble in finding a place to park their vehicle. There is a no waiting policy in front of the terminals; however, short-stay parking is available within easy reach of the three terminals. The short-stay multi-storey car park offers special disabled parking bays situated directly next to the lifts. Several secure long-term parking lots are connected to the terminals by a free shuttle bus. Disabled drivers holding a Blue Badge will find dedicated parking spots at all of the airport’s car parks. Online pre-booking is suggested to avoid any parking delays.
