Manchester Airport has recently won the prestigious “Best Environmental Practice” category at the North West Business Environment Awards. Manchester Airport won the award for its aim in reducing the airport's carbon emissions. It is looking to reduce these emissions by 10% by 2015, yet double its passengers to 40 million by this time.
The award was given for its “Carbon Management in Action” strategy.So far 10 per cent of electricity across the airport site now comes from renewable sources a saving already of 4,300 tonnes of carbon dioxide a year.
The North West Business Environment Awards are held annually and are aimed at acknowledging companies that are achieving outstanding success whilst also improving and protecting the environment.
